“Asa called out to the LORD his God, saying, ‘O LORD, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and the weak; so help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in and rely on You, and in Your name we have come against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; let not man prevail against You.’” 2 Chronicles 14:11 AMP

Have you ever been in a battle you felt you could not win? You are not alone. This passage of scripture is a prayerful invitation for God to fight the battle. King Asa was making it clear, “If they come against us, they are actually coming against You, God. And if they prevail against us, they have prevailed against You.” Such a bold and daring way of putting the responsibility on God was reminiscent of King David’s faith, when he ran towards the giant Goliath declaring, “The battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands!”

Just as Asa cried out to the LORD his God in prayer, we too must correctly understood that God's power is not enhanced or limited by man's apparent strength or weakness. We should recognize that the battle belongs to the LORD and call upon God to defend His honor (do not let man prevail against You!). We too can trust and rely on HIM.

My prayer for us today is that we know this truth: “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance and victory belong to the LORD.” Proverb 21:31 AMP
