Anxious

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

The command to “be anxious for nothing.” is very difficult, specially at certain seasons of our lives. The truth is, anxiety can cripple someone’s life. It can bring someone into deep depression or despair.

Strong's Definitions: μεριμνάω merimnáō, mer-im-nah'-o; to be anxious about:—(be, have) care(-ful), take thought, to be worried.

The answer to anxiety is found in these words: But in everything by prayer and supplication: Paul wrote that everything is the proper subject of prayer. In other words, there are no areas of our lives that are not a concern to God.

In Luke we read the story of Mary and Martha: “And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.”(Luke 10:41). The word “worried” is the same Greek word found in Philippians 4:6. Jesus also gives the answer to being anxious for nothing. Jesus said: Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her: Mary’s good part was her simple devotion to Jesus, loving Him by listening to His word. This was Mary’s chosen focus.

We really can be anxious for nothing, pray about everything, and be thankful for anything

My prayer for us today is: “pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
